"This product could not be improved upon.It is soft, you feel no wires.It has a wide range of heat settings.I have not gone higher than 6, which is quite warm, but 1 is very mild, barely perceptible.Although it's a little pricey, I am not sorry I sprang for it, as it allows me to do with minimal heating of the room over night.I'm also happy about the reputation for safety- because it is always stretched flat, it cannot bunch into a ball, overheat and catch fire as an electric blanket can. "I used to have a mattress pad from Sunbeam. The improvement I see in Rest Secure are: 1) the power cord connector is on the side, instead of on top of the mattress like Sunbeam, which is annoying when you sleep on it. 2) warmer heat zone for the feet, it does get colder that side. 3) the setting control has 2 buttons, 5 levels, Sunbeam has a rotational knob for 10 levels. I have to say buttons looked less sophisticated, but it is easier to manipulate, especially when you are half awake at night. " – Lila

"Years ago I had a bed pad that heated up rapidly and was HOT! Unfortunately, it finally gave out so I replaced it with a new one that was SUPPOSED to do the same. The industry apparently had problems with bed pads overheating and so revised (read: lowered)the standards and so it was impossible to find a good one...including the one I had bought. Now comes the Serta and it is not powered by Ac but rather powered by DC. This makes it VERY safe and, much to my surprise, it not only heats up rapidly, but is wonderfully HOT which is great for the NH winters. I don't know how they do it with DC power but I don't care. A plus is it actually uses much less electricity than the previous AC models. Great all around and I gladly give this one five stars. " – Bookins

"After buying this on 9/23/11 I finally put it on the bed and it is magnificent.A whole-bed heating pad.Just wait until the cat notices!The whole or half bed setting along with head/torso/leg zones is magnificent, works perfectly and it has a remote! :The wiring is well disguised/padded and I could barely feel it even when putting it on my bed.
I have wanted a heated mattress pad ever since I lost one in a move about 15 years ago.No more cold feet (even with socks) and cold bottom.Oh, and it has a "pre-heat" feature.Interested yet?

"This mattress pad is awesome!So warm when you get into bed, adjustable heat settings...we have a king size, so it has dual controls, one for each side of the bed.The mattress pad is super deep & the easiest mattress pad to get on the bed that we've ever had.We have 4 small children, which is why we wanted a waterproof pad...well, it works...believe me!It's been peed on 2 times already, & not a drop through the pad...just threw it in the washer & back on the bed.You can't feel that it's waterproof & you can't feel the wires in it either.Def recommend! "Sunbeam Twin XL Heated Mattress Pad - the pictures are not of the actual item I recieved.The picture shows the connector being near the edge of the bottom of the bed, and placed off to the side edge of the bed.The one I received had the connector in the middle of the bottom of the bed, and farther inboard from the bottom of the bed.As a result I keep hitting my feet against in, very uncomfortable.Also, the controller is not the same as shown in the picture either.Controller works fine.Heating wires are hardly noticeable, and though itdoes not seem to be very warm to the touch, once you are on top of it and under some blankets, it gets warm fast!I had to use it at the lowest setting or I would sweat too much.

It's totally comfortable, even in the summer. In the cold winter nights, we like to save on heating and just turn this on. It's great and keeps us warm all night. "10-01-11 finally took the mattress pad out of the box and put it on the bed, we were a little dissapointed that it was not a skirted mattress pad as advertised, instead it had 4 straps to hold it in place. my wife liked it as she's the one who gets cold when it's 75 degrees indoors, other than the lack of a skirt it works great and was at a good price. "I was interested in this pad partly because of its economic price and partly because it uses elastic bands rather than a band around the edge to secure it.Those bands never seem to hold mattress pads securely, and they always seem to be made of some flimsy, easily melted, synthetic felt.
Anyway, the elastic straps hold it securely and the controllers are easy to use, if a bit big.I found it a bit confusing that the wires were so long until I realized the control wires plug in at the foot of the bed, not the head.There were no instructions, so I figured this out when the area under my pillow got too warm and my feet got too cold.

"I never got a chance to try this out.I've owned many mattress heating pads over the years and this is the only one where the sizeable wiring connector on the pad, was on top of the mattress about 5" in from the bottom edge.If you're over 5' tall, your feet/ankles will be lying directly on this boxy connector.This requires the wiring to come up over the bottom of the mattress onto the top of the pad.Several straight/sharp edges that will make sleeping almost impossible.

"I'm very pleased with this purchase.The mattress pad fits my thick mattress with room to spare.The low setting is warm enough for the cool, rainy nights we've had recently.I turned it up to 4 on the low-to-10 setting, and it was as warm as the "high" setting was on my previous pad (also a Sunbeam).
