It used to take over an hour to straighten with less than stellar results. This dryer is AWESOME and cut at least 20 minutes off of my total drying time. “I have always been tough on hair dryers, and was hesitant to spend this much for a dryer thinking I would have to replace it in 6 months (like every other dryer I’ve owned). What a surprise! Yes, it’s a bit heavier than my old dryers, but it dries my hair in half the time with NO FRIZZ. I used to dry my hair, use my flat iron, apply tons of product, and know that some days my hair would look great, others, well… the curl, and worse yet, frizz would be back in no time. Now I spend about half the time on my hair, and it is in SO much better condition. Unlike the other ionic dryers I’ve used, this has a switch to turn the ion feature on and off. Manufacturers of ionic hair dryers claim the dryers speed up drying time over non-ionic models due to the delivery of both warm air and negatively charged ions. However, in a study undertaken by the Good Housekeeping Institute, no significant difference in the drying time of ionic and non-ionic hair dryers was found.

Ionic hair dryer makers also claim to their dryers will boost shine because they use less heat and cause less damage. Most reviewers, including the Good Housekeeping Institute, agree that ionic hair dryers do boost shine more than the non-ionic models do. Well, this is not the case with the non-ionic. These leave the hair damaged and frizzy.

With the increase in shine of the hair, the shaft of hair becomes more flat and smooth. This prevents damage to the hair. This claim of the makers of ionic dryers is consented by the users as well.

The hair dryers differ in the pricing pattern also. The ionic dryers cost more; on the other hand the no ionic dryers are cheaper. The good housekeeping magazine has found that some of the models costing to the tune of $300 and few are available at a cost of $20 to $25.

However, one thing that is common between the two dryers is, as with any electric product that will be used near a water source, care must be taken that the electrical cord not comes in contact with water. Always hold the dryer by the handle, never by the barrel which can retain heat.
