Air Compressor

Our Top 5 Picks:

Like almost any equipment no matter how durable and well made it is there will come a time that it will breakdown particularly those moving pieces that are prone to wear out. Sure DeWalt compressors are built to last but sometimes accidents takes place and we cannot actually anticipate which component will wear out at any time. The frequent parts that normally break other than the internal parts are the pressure regulator, filters and pressure gauge.

Customer Reviews:
"I just bought this compressor and sold my 6 gallon compressor. This unit is fairly quiet (acceptable), I have owned small compressors for 3 years now and mainly do trim work, and drywall texturing with these units. I bought this unit for installing a hard wood floor using a Bostitch pnuematic floor stapler and corner round around base. This worked great, it recharged up fairly quick and feels like it is built to last. I know how well Porter Cable tools and compressors hold up and think this is going to be a keeper. Smaller compressors do work a little harder because of the size of the tank, but they haven't let me down yet and I am impressed by how much better they get each year. " – Mike Kemp

Customer Reviews:
"I've had a VIAIR 70P for quite some time and that unit is great for the small pump that it is. When I needed another small portable compressor that was able to be powered by a cigarette lighter power socket, I noticed that VIAIR had a new model and got one. This one is almost twice as fast as the 70P and every bit as quiet. The unit doesn't walk around when you're using it and the brass screw-on tire chuck makes for almost no air loss. The LED power indicator is a nice touch and I found the air pressure gauge to be spot-on as long as I turn the compressor off to check pressure. In all, another nice unit. -I just wish this was available when I got my 70P. Side note: don't throw away the box - its a means of storage since this unit doesn't come with a carry bag. " – L. Martz

Customer Reviews:
"The problem is the lock-on chuck. The size and basic design make it hard (or not possable because of limited access) to use and it does not always lock on well. You spend time getting it on right.

For half the price there is a no-name brand version of this tire filler you can get here at Amazon or from Harbor Freight that has a compact clamp on chuck that is much easier to use and has no access issues. C-H chose the wrong chuck.

Customer Reviews:
"The advantage to this Goodyear hose is that it is made out of industrial grade rubber instead of vinyl. What that means is that when you are using it instead of being stiff like vinyl it remains soft and flexible, so it lays flat on the floor. This is especially a problem in colder temperatures. It's great for coiling as well, it doesn't fight you.
The real frustration of using a vinyl hose is that it can stand up while moving across the floor, high enough to snag on things, or even pull something onto the floor. The hose is in a coil, then instead of simply uncoiling, the vinyl has a memory and wants to look more like hoops moving over the floor.
This hose comes in 3/8" which is the most popular size. The 1/4" hoses restrict air flow, which is especially important over a 50 foot run.
All in all highly recommended. The advantages are worth it even if it was twice the price.

Customer Reviews:
"I like this compressor; quiet, fast, efficient, solidly built.Good features: heavy duty wheel kit, dual connections, good gauges & controls. However, be aware that the drain is not set to drain water completely from the tank in either the vertical or horizontal positions. It needs to propped up at about 45 degrees to get all the condensation out. This is a critical design flaw as residual water in the tank is a big cause of tank failure.Buy the compressor but be sure you drain it well and often. Customer Reviews:
"I have owned this tool for almost a year now, and have used it regularly to maintain tires at proper pressure. Easy to use, reliable, light is useful when needed.

A tad noisy if I want to find a fault with it.

"I do various home repairs on my own home and on my rental properties.I needed a good quality air compressor for my nail guns and I purchased the Dewalt D55151.A framer friend of mine recommended the oil fil type as apposed to the oil-free version.I have had the compressor for about 2 months and so far it has performed better than I ever expected! It's great! The only drawback is that it does not come with a female hose connector, so I purchased and installed a manifold to accept 2 female connectors. " – William G. Luther

Customer Reviews:
"Good quality hose and price for 25 foot length - I did not need a 50 foot hose, and do not like the thinner yellow 'coiled' hoses. It arrived in the color blue, versus the black color in the photograph - if you want black, may be best indicate it when ordering.Otherwise, a good product for the price. Customer Reviews:
"This compressor is a real knock out.
It goes up to 200 psi, That means more tool time before recharge compared to other copressors with same tank size.
Robust, Tank just feels thick, nice handles, guage protection.
I have used this with an air hammer for destroying concrete, automotive work etc.
It is a nice tire fill compressor because you can pump it up to 200 and wheel it around your cars and fill up without running the compressor.

It is loud, it is a compressor.
When draging it over objects be sure not to band the drain valve protruding from the bottom.

It's beutiful too.

Based on the quality of the surrounding environment where the unit is located, the air cleaner can be easily clogged with dirt and other harmful particles which the compressor collects while pumping air. If not replaced, it can degrade the performance of the device, consuming more electricity or gas to produce pressurized air in comparison to using a clean filter. These dust particles and other impurities can also harm delicate tools and gadgets. Another part that usually fails is the pneumatic regulator. All air that the compressor is supplying to our tools passes through the air regulator, when the atmosphere is dirty it can result in the pneumatic-regulator to malfunction.

The pressure gauge is very important element of the compressor unit, without it you will not be able to tell how much air pressure is being delivered to the system. Too much and too little pressure is not good to pneumatic-tools and equipments it can reduce its performance and sometimes it can destroy it. The filter, regulator and gauge are positioned at the control panel so it can be changed conveniently without actually dismantling the compressor. These parts are also common or generic to all compressors as long as they have the same specification and dimension with the original one.

"You can't complain abot its light weight or how quiet it is. Both, steller features.
This is a nice quiet compress. It has a rapid recovery and nice features.

Good for light use only tho.
It has a 50 % duty rating, something I saw nowwhere till it arived.
This only affects people who think this could be used roofing or framing which would make the compressor run almost constintly.
It'll burn out quickly for those uses. Think about it, its only a 1.5 gal. two shots from a framer and its cycling again.

It would be a perfect compress if bostitch made it a 100% duty.

"Received in record time.Compressor looked brand new, up to pressure in 2 minutes out of the box. BUT THE REGULATOR WAS BROKE.On inspection there were no parts inside the reulator except for a spring!Obviously no one checked to see if it worked at all. However, Amazon so far has gone above and beyond to accomadate me (next day shipping for free) on the replacment.Hope it works!

Got the replacment today, again record time!Looks great, everything appears to be working fine. Thanks Amazon, RM

"This is a nice combo pack for the weekend user or hobbyist. The compressor requires no maintenance... a definite consideration when buying.Everything is easily accessible for adjustments and connections. The unit is compact, fairly light and packs up well for mobility.Compressor is a bit loud but I can live with that for the price. There is no air nozzle included, you'll need to buy that separately. " – Petik

"I replaced my old air hose that was not rubber, often got tangled up, would rarely unravel without probelms, with the Goodyear 3/8 inch hose. The rubber hose is worth the extra few $. I store it in my garage, and even the winter temperatures don't phase it.Only had it a month, so durability is uncertain, but everything to this point is outstanding.Highly recommend! " – Rom122

Customer Reviews:
"This product has the best hp of all small tank compressors I found. Works nice with a spray gun and general use. Yet you can fill it an carry it to a flat tire. The onboard carrier is nice to carry a 25 ft spring type hose to set in with a place for your air fittings. Great product ! ! ! " – js28

Customer Reviews:
"I purchased this reconditioned unit for a home workshop because it seemed like a good deal and was supposed to have been returned to new like condition by the manufacturer.

I recieved the compressor with three guns, brad, finish, and stapler. The brad and finish nailer fired once and jammed. (yes I used the correct nails and brads for each gun). The problem was that the internal driver pin that drives the nail or brad froze and could not be unjammed to allow more that one nailing at a time.

I contact Bostich and was refferred to a local tool repair company who refused to service the guns. I ended up sending the whole thing back to Amazon for a refund.

The only good thing about the purchase was that Amazon was prompt in giving the refund and din't charge return shipping.

The Bostich seemed like a good deal but was nothing but a hassle and I'm still looking for a good brad and finish nailer combo kit for my Home workshop.
